The Constitutional Studies Program at the University of Texas at Austin welcomes authors, readers, publishers, and all others to our Texas-style book fair in law and political science.

* We invite authors to submit a proposal for a fully-formed book panel featuring discussants of their choice.

* We invite publishers to promote their books in law and political science; tables are available for display, promotion, and sales.

* We invite prospective authors to meet with publishers about their ideas; meeting spaces will be available.

* And we invite all persons interested in law and political science to join us to meet authors, to learn about their books, and to enjoy the festivities.

* All will be treated to Austin's best BBQ.

Program: Books & BBQ will feature concurrent book panels scheduled around a plenary program of author interviews. The plenary program and concurrent sessions will be supplemented by instructional workshops on: (1) how to identify an idea for a book; (2) how to prepare a book proposal; and (3) how to promote your book.

Book of the Year: The plenary program will showcase the author of the 2023 Book of the Year in law and political science. Stay tuned for the official announcement!

Details for Authors: Authors interested in presenting their books in the fields of law and/or political science must submit a proposal for a book panel with at least two (2) discussants, for a total of at least three (3) persons per panel. The maximum number of persons per panel is five (5). Each panel must have a single chairperson; one of the discussants may serve jointly as discussant and moderator. Only one (1) book may be featured on a single panel. Submit a book proposal here.

Details for Publishers: Publishers interested in promoting their books in the fields of law and/or political science must register in advance and specify the number of tables they wish to reserve. For more information, please contact Raymundo Rodriguez by email at [email protected].

Details for Readers: All others -- those who are neither authors, discussants, chairpersons, nor publishers -- are invited to experience this festival of books and BBQ. Register as an observer here.

Cost: There is no cost to participate in Books & BBQ. Group meals will be generously sponsored by the Constitutional Studies Program. Registrants are responsible for their own travel and lodging. All are encouraged to make travel and lodging arrangements as soon as possible.

Date and Location: Books & BBQ will be held fully in-person from Thursday, May 16, 2024, to Saturday, May 18, 2024, at the University of Texas at Austin.

Registration Deadline: Registration is open until Monday, February 5, 2024.
