Welcome to the 2023 Global Summit on Constitutionalism!
The Global Summit offers the opportunity to showcase ideas in all areas of constitutionalism, to highlight publications in the field, to engage in rewarding and collaborative intellectual exchange, and to enjoy occasions for informal interaction. All are welcome—scholars, jurists, practitioners, and laypersons of all ranks around the world.
The overriding purpose of the Global Summit is to create opportunities for others to flourish in an intellectually stimulating environment committed to academic integrity, diversity, equality, freedom of speech, and inclusion.
The Global Summit is founded and directed by Richard Albert, the William Stamps Farish Professor in Law, Professor of Government, Director of Constitutional Studies at the University of Texas at Austin, and Founder & Director of the International Forum on the Future of Constitutionalism.
The Global Summit is co-convened by Antonia Baraggia, Assistant Professor of Comparative Public Law, University of Milan (Italy), Vicente F. Benítez R, Assistant Professor of Constitutional Law, Universidad de La Sabana (Colombia), Catarina Santos Botelho, Professor of Law at Universidade Católica Portuguesa (Portugal), Hui-Wen Chen, Research Assistant at the School of Law, University of Warwick (United Kingdom), Cristina Fasone, Assistant Professor of Comparative Public Law at LUISS University (Rome), and Yaniv Roznai, Associate Professor, Reichman University, Harry Radzyner Law School (Israel).
The Global Summit is hosted by the Constitutional Studies Program at the University of Texas at Austin, and presented in partnership with the International Forum on the Future of Constitutionalism.
Program
The 2023 Global Summit will be held in-person on the campus of the University of Texas at Austin on March 16-18, 2023.
The Global Summit is structured around three Keynote Lectures delivered respectively by Amaya Alvez, an elected member of the Chilean Constitutional Convention, Linda Colley, a constitutional historian at Princeton University, and Daniela Salazar, a Justice on the Constitutional Court of Ecuador.
The heart of the Global Summit will be the dozens of concurrent panels held over the course of three days. These concurrent panels will be either fully-formed panels submitted by conference registrants or panels assembled from individuals submissions received from conference registrants. Subject-Matter
Submissions are welcome on any subject in the study of constitutions, and from any perspective, whether comparative, doctrinal, empirical, historical, philosophical, sociological, theoretical, or beyond.
Eligibility
Submissions are welcome from scholars, practitioners, and activists, as well as students enrolled in graduate programs anywhere in the world.
Diversity
The Constitutional Studies faculty at the University of Texas at Austin is diverse across many dimensions including nationality, methodology, jurisdictional focus, and normative commitments but it is lacking in other forms of diversity, most notably gender and racial diversity. The conference will presumptively accept submissions whose authors will diversify our community on those two fronts.
Deadlines
The Global Summit is inclusive and open to all. Each submission is presumed to be accepted.

The 2023 Global Summit will be held in English.
Costs
There is no cost to participate in the Global Summit. Group meals will be generously sponsored by the Constitutional Studies Program. Registrants are responsible for their own travel and lodging. We encourage you to make your travel and lodging arrangements as soon as possible.

- The submission deadline is Thursday, October 26, at 4pm Austin time.
- Final confirmation will be announced no later than Tuesday, November 1, 2022.
- The deadline to register after receiving notice that your submission has been approved is 3pm Austin time on Friday, November 25, 2022. There will be no exceptions.
