The Future of Liberal Democracy
This course offers a rare occasion to engage in live dialogue on today's major questions on the future of liberal constitutionalism with the following distinguished experts: Cora Chan (Hong Kong University), Gabor Halmai (European University Institute), Samuel Issacharoff (New York University), Bertil Oder (Koç University), Francisca Pou (ITAM), and Wojciech Sadurski (University of Sydney).
Directed by Richard Albert, this course will diagnose the current state of liberal democracy in the world and look ahead to its future challenges and prospects. The distinguished faculty will shine a light on specific jurisdictions, including China, Hungary, Poland and Turkey, and will examine broad regional challenges in Latin America, and will moreover explore transnational themes in the institutional design of democracy and its responses to populist movements.
